For over 100 years, Newham Group has worked to service some of Australia’s leading industries. From its inception by founder Eric Newham, the company’s first operations began in transport - a humble horse and dray in rural NSW.
In the 1940’s Eric moved with his family to the Lithgow and expanded to coal transportation, bus services, general freight, mining operations and construction activities such as dams and pipelines.
From the 1980’s, the company expanded into property development, farming activities and hospitality. Newham Group owned the Tower Mill Hotel in Brisbane (now registered as a heritage building) and the Boat Harbour Motel in Wollongong. Resource Management Services followed, and so did a long-term partnership with the NSW Government to operate the Waste Management and Recycling centres across Sydney.
Allan Newham took up the reins supported by siblings and fellow Directors Barry and Ann during in the early 1970’s. Australia’s desire for cleaner, cheaper energy saw the huge expansion of the Natural Gas Industry from the 1970’s and the Newham Group became the “go to” home grown Australian Contactor during the construction and development of the National Pipeline Grid.
Barry’s son Mark became a Director of the business.
